My 2020 Holiday card is dedicated in memory of my parents, James and Immaculata Murrell , who gave all of their kids the love of music, art, and reading, especially during the holidays.
My earliest memories of childhood include hopping into our parents’ bed on Sunday mornings so that Dad could read us the funnies in the newspaper. With no radio in our station wagon, both Mom and Dad sang together with us to pass the miles away (and to keep their eight kids from bickering I’m sure.) We couldn’t afford trips to the art museum often; we were encouraged to make our own art. Thanks to them, I have always been able to call upon my love of art, music, and reading to enrich my life, and to get me through those inevitable rough patches on the way. Here in Anchorage, we are fortunate to have organizations and people dedicated to giving that gift to the children who might not have the same opportunity at home. Making the cultural arts available to our kids takes hours of hard work and dedication. A special thanks to them.
25% of the sale of this card will be donated to the Alaska Junior Theater to help them physically reopen their doors soon for our children to discover the joys of world class culture here in Anchorage. (Note: donation has already been made).
