2022 Small Holiday Print -“A Northern Noel”
My holiday card for 2022 is dedicated to the Alaska Division of The Salvation Army, and the many local organizations who shelter and care for the most vulnerable citizens of our town, especially the families thrust into homelessness - no matter the reason.
When I was in my early thirties, I found myself suddenly single, with two young children to raise. Fortunately, I had an education that qualified me for a steady, decent wage. Thankfully, our home had a mortgage low enough for me to barely manage on my own. I look back on that time now, and realize that I was a whisper away from being homeless, with two little ones counting on me for food and shelter. I am grateful that, in these trying times, there are safe havens for single parents who don’t have the means I did. My admiration and thanks to our Anchorage “Earth Angels”.
25% of the sale of this matted print will be donated to The Salvation Army’s McKinnell House in Anchorage, a safe haven for families in need of shelter, food, and support in obtaining a secure future. It is the only local shelter serving two-parent families and single-parenting fathers with children.
