Not far from Anchorage lies the Matanuska Valley, a vast, somewhat flat farmland hemmed in by tall mountains and the Knik Glacier. The farms themselves date back to the earlier half of the 20th century, and are as picturesque ever, even though they are slowly disappearing - aging out so to speak. Drive around the valley roads in the late fall, and you just may be treated to a sight like this.
