This watercolor was inspired by an old French legend that tells us that the raven was the first to hear the news of the birth of the Christ child. Raven was flying one night over the fields of Bethlehem when suddenly the sky was filled with angels. They told him the great tidings, and Raven flew off at once to spread the joyous news that the baby who would open the doors to heaven had arrived that starry night.
